Quickly before I get back to working on the act, here's a little about how I imagine parts of my workflow going;
- I thumbnail and rough out written drafts of sections of act 8.
- I send thumbnails to line artists or colorists, who make art for panels, animations, flashes, etc
- I send drafts to dedicated editors or post them generally to the light & void boards for review. Possibly, Void can be a 'sub-board' where spoilers will be contained for people who want to avoid them, and the board in general can be a place to discuss specific ideas in a more structured setting than the google doc
- when the materials are done for an update, it can be posted on schedule
NOTE: the google doc is still the best place to post writing and plot ideas, as they're all easily available in one place with less navigation needed. But if you want to just talk things out and the irc isn't your deal, then this is a nice third option that keeps a stable record at hand.
- I might post threads to specific relevant boards mentioning specific jobs I need filled. But that's only if there's nobody that really meets the requirements via the google submissions form.
- I might also post threads to the Light Board asking for specific scenes or bits of dialogue to be written from scratch, based off of a prompt. Anybody can have a go posting their pesterlogs or offering revisions to existing work.
- As sections are completed and posted, I'll be making updates in the news forum.
- My initial timeline for act 8 act 1 updates are;
MAY 8th - PROLOGUE BEGINS
MAY 21st - ACT 8 ACT 1 BEGINS
And also my deepest insecurities, for the world to see;
- Interest might peter out as I work to get the drafts and thumbs ready, and the longer I take to create assignments to hand out, the fewer people I may be able to count on. So I'm working as hard as I can to get everything concrete enough to get people drawing and contributing asap.
- Hype is a fickle resource, needing continuous sacrifice in the form of shiny things. These first few weeks without any content being posted might end up being the most challenging in the entire project. I want to take a second to HUGELY thank everyone who has already offered to help or stayed to hang out in the irc, or with me on skype, or simply answered asks and questions/donated their work. You are all amazing.
Any thoughts or comments would be awesome, and thank you guys once again for everything you've done to help already.
