With all the cool meta posts coming out of the woodwork lately, what are some of your favorites? (You don't necessarily need to think they belong in act 8 canon or even completely agree with them, just go ahead and link anything you saw that interested you.) Here's my quick list;

My all time favorite piece of meta was the headcanon that Jade would inherit the Disciple's destiny as stated on this postI always thought it would be neat if Jade, Karkat, and Dave mirrored the Disciple, the Signless, and the Psiioniic, respectively.

Just read this bit this bit of meta, it was a nice read, kinda like "Yes, this is the feel I also have. Thankyou op.". Thought I'd share!

Thirding the 'did Hussie drop the ball on Gamzee' post up there. This post is one of my favorites in terms of discussing the meaning of the Blood and Breath aspects, and by extension, the character arcs, development, and challenges of Karkat, John, Tavros, and even PM, WV, and SS/Jack/Bec Noir. A lot of that blogger's meta on classpects and role inversion is just fantastically sound, even if some speculations didn't end up panning out plotwise with the ending (but then, whose did?). There's too many to link their posts one by one, but this one is rather relevant to GO!Terezi's retcon orders and her apparent disregard for the agency and wellbeing of anyone else on the meteor, so long as her perceived 'mistake' was fixed. Momo linked an earlier iteration of this thread above, but I'm still watching notes and replies stack up that are oddly believable. The retcon to the end of Homestuck as Caliborn's revenge fic? I'd believe it.

Just posting to say I'm adding stuff to the top of the thread as I find it on my dash.

I think my favorite meta (don't have a link sorry) is the idea that Gamzee was a glitch or a juju himself. It would fit right in with him not dying and the "most important character" thing that was sadly abandoned. Also, Horrorterror Gamzee is amazing.

Like, one of those things where there's just enough going on that it's in that sweet spot of theories, for me. I never exactly want it canonized, but wow, I want it left open as plausible, too. There's even the bit where feferi (empress) consults the horrorterrors (clowns?) to create the dream bubbles with what would be in that context, chucklevoodoos (chucklevoodoos). Basically theories are just fun and meaningful connection of concepts to me and that one definitely is interesting, thematically. While also being super sad.

Also a big fan of the horrorterror Gamzee theory over here! Also, not really a solid theory or metapost in itself, but I've found Homestuck (especially with regard to Gamzee) to be really interesting when viewed in the context of the Starlight Calliope, since there are a lot of obvious character parallels. (Whistles = Gamzee, Gumblin = Equius, Pendlecoat = Lord English). It sort of falls apart when you get deeper into it, but I really like it as a look at what a protagonist Gamzee might have looked like? Also, while we're talking clowns, I have to mention this.

I would like to add my own meta, if I could: hereI like to think about Gamzee's relationship to the timelines and how they work. I think Karkat was correct in that a "murder mode" Gamzee was a sign of a doomed timeline.

this post has always been one of my faves, mostly because of all the angst and the wide applicability of such a headcanon

I believe the only true meta that needs discussion is of Eridan's story arc being a full on metaphor for the Obama Administration.
Vriska playing (Vriska) in her role against the diabolical presidency was enough to move me to tears upon learning the true purpose of the cause, which is to get Eridan (Obama) impeached... By Death.

This just started circulating on Tumblr, so I'm going to link it here.I don't agree with every statement the author makes about various characters, but I think there are some good and interesting thoughts tucked into this--especially about the nature of timelines and what they are meant to do after the 'ending' of the Homestuck narrative, branching out into infinity instead of being constrained to loops meant to bring about Lord English. It's worth a read!

It's worth a read! Heeey, thank you! I'm pleased to hear you think so. I linked to both in that piece, but I don't think either one gets the attention they deserve, so I wanted to add them to this pile: Storming the Ivory Tower's work is astounding, insightful and was deeply uplifting when I was confused and unsure about the ending, myself. Tex Talks's videos so far have fleshed out the classpects in a way that jives well with what I already thought and doubles as probably the most fascinating analysis of Homestucks' setting that I've ever seen. Watching his video was where I realized I really wanted to work to put my own statements and perspective on Homestuck out there.
