What is Act 8?
Act 8 is a fan project that springboards off the canon ending. On the night of the fateful update, one spontaneous burst of inspiration soon became a legitimate project with a staff of spirited fans. Among us are artists, musicians, and programmers who want to try and give back as much to Homestuck as it gave to us, and we're very excited to work together to make something cool. The story, art and other materials are all collaborative assets, with everything having passed between many hands and under many eyes. Though you'll find many diverse opinions and attitudes among our team, altogether the project is an act of love towards Homestuck not just as a story, but as a larger phenomenon that captured the imagination of so many people. We want to celebrate the embodiment of this comic as a whole and the journey it went on.
And maybe even have a little bit of fun while we do it.
The premise and goal of Act 8 is to fully realize an expanded ending based on the ideas and designs of fans, all in the MSPA format. ACT 8 will include traditional panels, narration and flash animations. It may expand further beyond that, depending on interest. Overall, it's a celebration of the creative ingenuity of the comic's fanbase, not a "correction" or "overwriting" of canon.
What's going to happen in the story?
Here's where we're a little sneaky. We want the story to be both a public project and slightly secret, so that the experience of reading it is a surprise. A complete draft of the entire act exists, but if you really want it, you're going to have to track it down. SPOILERS are going to be appropriately labeled. What we can tell you outright; the act is about what happens immediately after John reaches for the door, and the act will be written to respond to ideas and requests posted on our forum and google doc.
Will my favorite ships be canon?
Maybe!
Who is on the team?
The team is a conglomerate of fans, ranging from newcomers to MSPA veterans. Anyone can join and contribute, but you're welcome to just hang around.

Main Staff;
- The project was spearheaded by tumblr user gamzee, seen on this forum under the username 'Momo'. Momo uses both they and she/her pronouns. They serve as a director/producer for the project, delegating tasks, making materials, and producing all of the act's swf/flash content.
- Bluebird is our main moderator and community manager. They answer questions, run our tumblr and other forward-facing accounts, and help keep things put together. If you're lost and need help, track them down.
- Zyy is in charge of creating and operating new web spaces, and set up our irc, forums, and google docs. They made and formatted this lovely board you're using now, and without them we surely wouldn't have gotten this far.
How do I get involved?
The best way is to create an account on the forum and stay tuned. Beyond that, here are some ideas to get you started;
- Check the Space & Time or Light & Void boards to see if there are any threads asking for help.
- If you are over 18, use our google submissions form and tell us what you can do. Leave some way to contact you, (Skype, Email, etc) and you may be asked to complete a specific task, whether it's "write the dialogue for this scene" or "draw/color these panels," or some other thing.
- If you are under 18, leave a post in our Introductions thread telling us a little about what you like to do -- writing, drawing, music, etc. A special thread may be made delegating a task to you, and you can use that thread to publicly share your progress.
- No matter your age, you are free to post any ideas you have to our google doc.
- You can post meta about homestuck canon in our Heart & Mind board.
- Want something in the project, and it doesn't make sense to put it in the google doc? You can discuss and share any of your ideas, suggestions or materials for act 8 in the Act 8: General Chat sub-board.
- Hang out in our IRC. We request age-appropriate behavior on the IRC but are unable to provide constant moderation, so here is your warning; there may be dragons. There, you can talk to whoever else is online, and possibly hear real-time updates on the project's minutia.
- Follow the Tumblr and keep up on the news.
As of this post, the project is only a few weeks old. Thank you very much for your understanding while we hit our stride, and another thanks for your interest. We hope you enjoy what we make!
